The focus of this book is truly to put the fun back into scouting. It is a quick read, filled with ideas for breaking out of doing 'the usual' for your troop meetings, camp outs, and while working on merit badges. I enjoyed it and as a Roundtable Commissioner, I think I'm going to pick up a couple extra copies to give out at our Boy Scout Roundtable.Fair warning, it is aimed at LDS SCouting, but with that said there are not very many of the ideas that are directed specifically for LDS troops. Many of the thoughts can be applied to any troop out there. I highly recommend it and the price is great.
As a new scoutmaster, I picked up this and two other books to prepare. This book has great ideas, but unless you're in a troop that is "scoutmaster-directed" instead of "boy-led", it's better for the Senior Patrol Leader to read and implement in the trooop.
I bought this as a gift for our Scouting Troop to use for the SPL's and adult leaders.I was told it was much more religious than they were expecting, but they really like parts of it.
As an experienced Scouter, I am finishing getting a batch of boys to Eagle. I had a troop of all one age, all 17 year olds, so am out of practice with the little guys. This book is an excellent refresher for me, with fun, engaging ideas, and just a very fresh attitude....just what I needed to remember the younger ages. I got an influx of 7 little guys, at one clip....quite an adjustment for me. Quick read, very pleasant, happy book.
As a Scout parent and committee member I found this book really funny. I gave it to my adult Scout son.
I bought this book because of the funny title. Reading the book made me laugh. Cub scout and Boy Scout leaders would benefit from reading it. It helped me want to try and be a better scout leader and had a lot of ways to accomplish just that. I think that if the scout leaders would read this book and put into practice the ideas in the book, their scout dens and troops would improve.
