I rented this for an MBA startup/small business creation class, and after reading through it for a few days I switched classes. In short, this is not a book on how to start a small business - and it's probably my fault for underestimating the importance of the word "venture" in the title. It starts with the longest description of entrepreneurship, with some soul-searching exercises about one's motivation to start a business, and then sort of jumps straight into venture capital investments and doing business at a very high level. While it covered the basics of starting a business in a few pages, I felt like spending over half of the book on VC and advanced growth tactics was putting the cart before the horse. I'm sure some people might appreciate just that, but if you're looking for a strong foundation to help you figure out how to build that company up from scratch, there are other books that do that better.
This book arrived in poor condition. Looks like has been re-sold multiple times.
Good Textbook, important ideas for the new entrepreneur and excellent conceptual guide. But not an easy read.
